Do you feel drawn to the spinning mud magic..?
Throwing is a delicious and relaxing craft to learn and it is so much fun. Like all skills it looks so easy when you see a craftsperson at work, but when you try it yourself it can be a little frustrating. Hours of practice are needed to learn to throw and it can become an expensive addiction. Classes make a lot of sense if you want company – but for the more impatient or independent types who enjoy figure it out alone, then using this course will save you time and money. For others it may just be that you want the reinforcement and to be able to study the technique at home.
I am Leyla Folwell and I have been teaching throwing since university in 2003, and I now run a successful pottery studio in Warwickshire. I have taught thousands of people from age 4 to 90 years. Our most popular course by far is beginners throwing and the follow-on sessions we offer. I understand that different people need instruction delivering in different ways, which is why I have built this course with video, text and diagrams.
I have seen it all, I have helped thousands of people get up and running on the wheel and I have so much to share with you to help you get there more quickly. Benefit from the thousands of beginners I have taught on the wheel! For every struggle I have learnt an important part of the throwing mystery and I am sharing every single drop of experience with you in these 18 videos.
The videos contain the throwing process broken down in to clear manageable and repeatable stages. Each stage has a supporting troubleshooting video and also text and diagram with further detail. Each section has a comments box for sharing your experience with your fellow students, I will use these to build an ongoing FAQ resource so we all keep learning together.
